The context of this project is the immediate past and present in contemporary Australian society, which is the series of natural or man-made disasters that impact on human and natural worlds with catastrophic outcomes. Characterising the present as a ‘war at home’ transforms the long Australian association of art and the impact of war, positively drawing on the often-gendered, unjustly marginalised idea of the Home Front.
